The project

My name is Julia and I am the creator of this little project named Jutelaune.

I was born in Munich but I grew up on the beautiful island of Menorca. Once back to Munich, it was necessary for me to bring a part of the Mediterranean closer.

So arises Jutelaune, a venture that seeks to reflect the meaning of Menorca as well as Spanish culture and most iconic footwear products.

The products

Both of the products we carry are made by certified local artisans from Menorca (avarcas) and from La Rioja (espadrilles).

Of course the avarcas and the espadrilles are traditional shoes from the Spanish culture:

The avarcas, also known menorquinas are the most traditional footwear in Menorca. They have their origin in the footwear worn by rural population of the island as it was strong and adaptable to the Menorcan countryside.

The original avarcas are only handcrafted in Menorca by generations of local artisans, which carry out the task of continuing to manufacture a shoe worn by many generations in this magical island.

The espadrilles are made by artisans manufacturers since 1982, who are committed to maintain the crafting process of the espadrilles intact.

Our leather manufacturers are members of the Leather Working Group, which seeks to improve the leather manufacturing industry by creating alignment on environmental priorities, bringing visibility to best practices and providing suggested guidelines for continual improvement.

The philosophy

Jutealaune is a part of my personality and a part of my island, Menorca.

We aim to offer a sustainable high quality product made by local artisans in Spain. This implies maintaining a company which is closely united to the local trade and labor. Thereby  in we produce a simple, stylish and, above all, ethical shoe.
